Besides being only for official and business reasons, another caveat travellers have to abide by are the mutually agreed terms and prevailing public health safeguards in both countries.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), the fast lane arrangement between Singapore and South Korea will help restore connectivity and support economic recovery between the two nations.

The move has come as a surprise, given reports earlier in June about South Korea going through a second wave of coronavirus cases.

Visitors have to stick to a fixed itinerary

Part of the health conditions for visitors taking advantage of the Singapore and South Korea is that they’ll have to adhere to a controlled itinerary for the first 14 days upon arrival.

Other measures mentioned at press time include COVID-19 testing before departure and after arrival. More details will be released on Friday, which you can follow on the SafeTravel website for all the latest updates.

With this good news, it does appear that things are starting to look up for the Republic on the travel front. This fast lane arrangement with South Korea closely follows the one agreed with Brunei, along with green lane agreements and expedition plans with other neighbouring countries like Thailand and Indonesia.

Only then can we take big steps towards travelling for leisure, hopefully in the not so distant future.
