Hello 2018: 10 Spots to Catch the New Year’s Eve Fireworks in Singapore

End the year with a breathtaking fireworks display over Marina Bay. Just remember to chope your spots early on New Year’s Eve!

In a blink of an eye, we’re in the last month of 2017! Whether or not your year has been a happily eventful one OR A SHITFEST, there’s always a reason to celebrate and usher in 2018. And what better way to do so than to admire the New Year’s Eve fireworks? Every year at the stroke of midnight, the Marina Bay Singapore Countdown will host a dazzling showcase of spectacular fireworks over the bay.

You don’t have to spend a ton of money to celebrate the new year! Here are some places you can visit to view the New Year’s Eve fireworks display for free:

1. Esplanade Roof Terrace

One of the best places to catch the fireworks would definitely be the Esplanade, located right by the bay area. Instead of standing by the bayfront on the ground level, head up to the rooftop garden to view the stunning display!

2. Marina Barrage

Take your night a step further and have a picnic at the Marina Barrage! The expansive lawn overlooks the city from across the Marina Channel, and although it may be a distance from the action, it still makes an awesome spot to spend the evening leading up to the fireworks countdown.

3. Bay East Garden

If you prefer a quieter way to observe the pyrotechnics, the Bay East Garden at Gardens by the Bay is a great spot to view the fireworks away from the bustling city centre. Also, after a night of exciting celebrations, you can beat the crowd heading home by cycling out of the area! The garden is a popular and convenient rest stop along multiple bicycle routes in and out of the city.

4. Helix Bridge

Perhaps one of the most popular and well-known places to view the NYE fireworks is at the Helix Bridge, located conveniently right next to the floating platform where the countdown celebrations are held at. However, reach there early to save yourself a spot as the bridge gets extremely packed!

New Year’s Eve certainly gives you an occasion to indulge and enjoy something special. This section is for those who want to spice up their night at a fancy restaurant or bar while catching the fireworks!

5. LeVeL33, Marina Bay Financial Centre

LeVeL33 is an acclaimed craft brewery in a penthouse on, none other than, the 33rd level of the Marina Bay Financial Centre. The restaurant offers an unparalleled panoramic view of the bay, the stunning city skyline, and definitely of the magnificent firework displays. This year, LeVeL33 is holding a countdown party to usher in the new year with a couple of drinks and great food. Be sure to request an outdoor seating for the best views!

6. Aura, National Gallery Singapore

The sky lounge of this rooftop bar is another spectacular spot to catch the fireworks. Aura is a top pick because of its great ambience that makes for an overall elegant experience and an amazing way to end 2017.

7. CE LA VI, Marina Bay Sands

This list wouldn’t be complete without a mention of CE LA VI, the iconic restaurant and skybar perched on the top of Marina Bay Sands. 57 floors up, it gives you a 360-degree view of the city and certainly one of the best views of the fireworks celebration.

Another unique way to enjoy the firework display is from the Singapore Flyer. But be sure to time your ride so that you’ll be as close to the top when it strikes midnight!

9. The Pinnacle@Duxton

Take in the breathtaking view from the sky garden of The Pinnacle@Duxton, 50 storeys above the ground! It’s open to the public for a small fee of only $6, and free for its residents. The garden rests atop the tallest public housing in the area, making sure you’ll get an unblocked sight of the fireworks!

10. The Lighthouse Restaurant and Rooftop Bar, The Fullerton

The Lighthouse Restaurant and Rooftop Bar offers not only mesmerizing views of the iconic downtown Singapore skyline but fine Italian cuisine and drinks too. What better way to welcome the new year than to lounge in the cool ambience and admire the fireworks with a glass of Merlot on the side?
