The Zubarah Fort, built by Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim Al Thani, indomitably lies in a deserted town of Zubarah on the Northwestern coast of the Qatari Peninsula. It was originally built to serve as a defence station to warn and protect the town from possible enemy attacks.

The fort has four corners, each having towers on top, which are geared with varieties of Qatari-style defences. Three of the four towers are circular while the fourth one is a rectangular tower with superb triangular-based ledges with openings to ward off the enemies.

Today, Zubarah Fort serves a museum to display different artworks and contemporary archaeological findings. It is open to public everyday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
