Top cities to live in 2022, post-pandemic
Conveniently, the Economist Intelligence Unit recently released its annual Global Liveability Survey ranking 173 cities in the world, following a substantial set of criteria. The study scores all cities across five main categories including stability, healthcare, culture and environment, and education and infrastructure. On top of that, the survey also takes into consideration the level of COVID-19 restrictions as this has led to big shifts across the index.
The following have topped the EIU’s survey of the most liveable cities in the world:
- Vienna, Austria
- Copenhagen, Denmark
- Zurich, Switzerland
- Calgary, Canada
- Vancouver, Canada
- Geneva, Switzerland
- Frankfurt, Germany
- Toronto, Canada
- Amsterdam, Netherlands
- Osaka, Japan and Melbourne, Australia
As shown above, Western European cities have dominated the index, along with a few cities from Canada. Vienna, Austria takes the number one spot with its notable infrastructure, outstanding healthcare system, and booming culture and entertainment. In fact, the city has now led seven of the previous ten EIU biannual liveability surveys.
