Travellers to Hokkaido Can Finally Ride This Cute Vulpix Airplane!

We love both the fire and ice type Vulpix!

As if a Pikachu jet by Skymark airline wasn’t enough to kill us with cuteness, another Japanese airline has entered the pokemon battle and launched a Vulpix-themed airplane. While the Pikachu jet promotes Okinawa tourism, the Vulpix airplane is set to improve Hokkaido tourism.

The Hokkaido-based airline called Air Do has taken a cue from its competitor and partnered with Hokkaido prefecture and the Pokemon Company to promote Hokkaido to future travellers. With Hokkaido’s two-colour vulpix airplane, how can we say no?

The Vulpix airplane

The Vulpix plane is officially called the Rokon Jet Hokkaido, where “Rokon” is Vulpix’s Japanese name. It’s basically a plane smothered in the two types of Vulpix: the fire type Vulpix from the Kanto region and the ice type Vulpix from the Alola region. This is an apt representation since Japan’s snow falls heaviest in Hokkaido.

Passengers will enjoy Vulpix custom designs on various in-flight amenities, such as the headrest covers of each chair and the two centre seats featuring the two types of Vulpix in row 37, which is Vulpix’s number in the Pokedex.

Aside from that, the flight attendants will wear Vulpix aprons and serve your beverages in Vulpix cups. And perhaps the best bonus of all, passengers will be given Vulpix postcards and stickers which can only be acquired on the Vulpix airplane!

This Vulpix-themed airplane is a Boeing 767-300ER, whose exteriors were painted with the Kantonian Vulpix on its right and the Alolan Vulpix on its left side. There are so many Vulpix to snap photos with even before you board the plane, and you’d be remiss if you forego this chance to post a selfie with them on Instagram.

The plane will start flights on 1 Dec 2021, between Tokyo and the Hokkaido cities of Sapporo, Ashikawa, and Hakodate. Can’t travel to Japan any time soon because of travel restrictions? Worry not. This Vulpix airplane will be in business for the next five years! That’s enough time for travel to go back to normal and for you to book a trip to Hokkaido, Japan. Vulpix will be waiting!
