EU Holidays To Conduct Second Round Of Mask Distribution

Not all heroes wear capes.

EU Holidays will be distributing 10,000 3-ply surgical masks to the public on 21 March, Saturday following a favourable response from the first round of mask distribution that was conducted earlier this month.

This timely effort comes into play as the local travel agency ramps up efforts to lend a helping hand to the community in Singapore during the coronavirus pandemic.

Members of the public will be able to avail themselves of one pack of surgical face masks – each pack containing four masks sealed in a bag – at EU Travel Expo, located on Level 2 of Suntec Convention & Exhibition Centre, from 11am to 7pm.

The distribution of surgical masks is on a first-come-first- served basis, while stocks last. Individuals who intend to collect the masks courtesy of the benevolent organisation will have to bring along their identification cards for verification purposes.

The role of a face mask may be especially essential during the COVID-19 outbreak as a result of the contagious nature of the virus. It is effective at capturing droplets, which is a chief transmission route of coronavirus –  if worn properly. However, the use of a mask alone is inadequate to provide the sufficient level of protection and other equally relevant measures such as hand hygiene should be adopted as well.

With face masks being in high demand as people look for ways to protect themselves, the initiative from EU Holidays certainly helps assuage the load of citizens. It has also pledged to continue donating face masks through various channels to help beneficiaries in need, such as people working in the frontline sectors and the elderly.
