6 Reasons Why You Need To Bring Your Kid To Skyline Luge Sentosa For A Thrilling Time

Skyline Luge Sentosa is for everyone – from the young to the young at heart!

Sentosa, as we all know, is an island resort that’s home to a plethora of attractions, making it a favourite destination among locals to revisit frequently. One attraction in particular stands out for families who are looking for a thrilling time – the Skyline Luge!

Skyline Luge is a wheeled cart ride on specially-designed tracks, where riders let gravity whizz them down the course while they maintain full control over their descent. It originated in New Zealand, and has since expanded worldwide to as far as Canada.

If you’ve recently caught episode 236 of “The Return of Superman”, a South Korean reality-variety show, you would have seen adorable toddler William Hammington screaming his heart out in pure excitement as he whizzed down the slopes, accompanied by his father, Sam. Catch a sneak peek of his experience right HERE!

Children’s Day is also coming right up on 5th October 2018 – the perfect opportunity to visit Skyline Luge for an enjoyable day out with the family! If you haven’t experienced Skyline Luge Sentosa yet, here are some reasons why you should. We promise that you and your kids would want to go for repeated rides!

1. It’s fun for the whole family

Riding the Luge is an activity that the whole family – young and old – can participate in together. While there are age and height limits to ride the Luge solo, children who do not meet the requirements can double up and ride in tandem with an adult.

Whether you’re a speed junkie or a casual rider, the excitement is the same. You can test your knack for driving as you curve through sharp bends while being seated close to the ground. The outdoor Luge experience, which is subject to the elements, certainly beats driving simulators in indoor arcades!

2. Families are eligible for special prices

Stamping itself firmly as a family-friendly attraction, Skyline Luge Sentosa has family packages with savings of up to $6 per ride! The Family Combos include both the Skyride to the top of the trails as well as the Luge ride down.

Family Luge & Skyride Combos:

Family of 3 Family of 4 Family of 5 Savings
2 Luge rides each $51 $68 $85 Save $4 per ride
3 Luge rides each $68 $90 $113 Save $5 per ride
4 Luge rides each $78 $104 $130 Save $6 per ride
Child Doubling** $3 per ride

Here’s a tip: When in doubt, pick a Family Combo with more (rather than less) rides – your kids will thank you later.

3. There are four exciting tracks to try out

Just last year, Skyline Luge Sentosa doubled the excitement by adding new tracks to their attraction. The two original trails are the Dragon Trail and the Jungle Trail; the former is a longer but scenic route for beginners, while the latter is shorter but windier. They both converge to the same endpoints.

The two new additions – Expedition Trail and Kupu Kupu (“butterfly” in Malay) Trail –  offer riders a stronger adrenaline rush as they can tackle U-shaped corners, zoom through tunnels, and navigate downhill slopes. Each of the four trails stretches around 650 metres, adding up to more than 2.6 kilometres of tracks to zoom on. Chances are, your kids will want to sample all four tracks and pick a favourite. After all, once is never enough when it comes to riding the Luge!

Here’s a piece of good news: after the first ride, you can join the “express” queue for subsequent rides!

4. It’s perfectly safe!

Fret not about safety, parents! The Luge carts are designed with safety as a top priority. Before the ride, the Luge instructors will give a briefing on how to accelerate, brake, and control the Luge. Equipped with a helmet, riders simply have to pull back or release the handlebars – a technique that is so easy to grasp, the whole family will be out on the tracks in no time! The Skyride, on the other hand, moves slowly and steadily. For most, it’ll be an exciting few minutes but if any member of the family is daunted by heights, it’s possible to skip the Skyride and opt to walk up the hill instead.

5. Rides are available day and night

At Skyline Luge Sentosa, the fun does not stop when the sun goes down! In the evening, special lighting flood the tracks with vibrant colours, presenting a visual treat for riders to immerse themselves in. With the cool night air, the ethereal setting, and the chance to catch a glimpse of fireworks in the background (from the nearby Wings of Time attraction), it’s certainly worth staying late in Sentosa for some nighttime Luge action.

6. Each Luge trip begins with a Skyride

To get to the start of the Luge tracks, riders can hop on an open-air chairlift. During their gentle ascent up the hill, they will get to take in scenic views of Sentosa Island and the Singapore skyline. While the Luge ride will undoubtedly be a memorable experience, the Skyride is definitely the cherry on the cake!

Ready for a day in Sentosa filled with entertainment and laughter? Save a weekend soon for Luge rides down the tracks, again and again, with the whole family. See you at Skyline Luge Sentosa, and don’t miss out on their Family Luge & Skyride Combos!
