Singapore Airlines Puts in Place Precautionary Measures

Singapore Airlines, the flag carrier airline of Singapore, has resumed flights to various destinations while increasing frequencies. It has put in place a slew of precautionary measures to safeguard the well-being of air passengers in light of the unabating COVID-19 situation. Consistently ranked among the world’s best airlines, Singapore Airlines strives to provide the best customer experience despite implementing new measures. 

If you are flying with the renowned airline soon, be sure to acquaint yourself with the  precautionary measures in place. We have rounded up a few of the important points for you.  On top of stepping up cleaning measures which include applying long-lasting disinfectants to frequently touched surfaces, here’s what else you need to know!

Before your flight

  • Make sure you complete your health declaration up to three days before your flight.
  • Check the travel restrictions and advisories of your destination prior to your flight. 
  • Update your contact details on the Manage Booking section of its website or on the SingaporeAir mobile app to receive the latest updates on your flight.

At the airport

  • You may be asked to complete a basic health assessment and provide the details of your travel history as required by your destination.
  • You will have to undergo temperature screening before immigration.
  • Maintain a safe distance from each other. There are markers on the ground and alternate check-in kiosks to aid the process.
  • Clean your hands with alcohol-based hand sanitisers available throughout the airport including check-in and immigration counters.
  • You will receive a complimentary SIA kit containing a face mask, hand sanitiser, and anti-bacterial wipes.

During your flight

  • Meal services have been suspended for all flights within Southeast Asia and to China due to regulatory requirements. Snack bags will be provided as a replacement.
  • Every aircraft in the Singapore Airlines Group fleet is equipped with HEPA filters, which remove more than 99.9% of the microbes in the air.
  • There will be dedicated seating zones on board to separate transit passengers from non-transit passengers
  • Additional wipes are available upon request in place of the towel service.
  • Headsets, headrest covers, pillow covers, bedsheets and blankets are replaced after every flight. 
  • Linens are washed at high temperatures to disinfect them after every use.
