New Zealand never ceases to surprise all Hobbit fans! After Air New Zealand’s Hobbit-inspired safety video, their airport doesn’t want to get left behind with the Hobbit craze. Smaug, the Great Dragon of Middle-earth, awaits every traveller in the busy terminal of Wellington Airport. Together with Gollum & the Great Eagles, Smaug, will welcome visitors of New Zealand.
Using large-sculpture technologies, Weta Workshop, a special effects and prop company based in New Zealand, has created this fearsome Smaug installation that is 75% of the size of the dragon in the movies. If you’re curious how this massive creature was made, watch the short video clip below.
