Walk through a beautiful curtain of purplish-blue and white as they hang down forming an enclosed tunnel. You will be greeted by gorgeous wisteria flowers bobbing down from above. They are a large deciduous climber that have a hard, woody stem and sweet flavour. The best time to come to the Kawachi Fuji Garden is this time of the year! Wisteria flowers bloom magnificently in late April to mid May. To get to the garden in Kitakyushu, go to JR Yahata station, take Nishitetsu bus #56 and get off at Kawachi Elementary School. Here, take a 10-15 min walk to the garden. Its a 5-hour ride from Tokyo on the Nozomi high speed train. This pastel-coloured fairytale is something you wouldn’t want to miss!
