The Feast of St. John the Baptist is widely celebrated by Roman Catholics all over the world every 24th of June. In some countries, it is commemorated by people getting wet and wild on streets and central locations. Spain’s population is predominantly Catholic so celebrating festivals to honour saints is not uncommon.
Just yesterday, this staggering and symbolic human tower called “castell” was formed by the Colla Joves Xiquets de Valls casteller group during the Sant Joan festival at Plaza del Blat square in Valls, south of Barcelona, Spain. Forming human towers has been part of the tradition to celebrate festivals in many parts of Spain.
