Amidst the busy street of Ho Chi Minh City congested with motorbikes, stood this magnificent French Cathedral, Duc Ba Cathedral of yore that seemed out of place as it sat side by side with undeveloped buildings and tattered rows of street stalls.
This century old building was built during the French colonisation in the mid 19th century. The cathedral that was supposed to represent the glory of the French a fusion of eastern and western culture – a Western architectural style with a unique Eastern aspect.
At one time, the Virgin Mary statue standing before the church was reported to shed tears, attracting throngs of crowds flocking to the church.
