Another scenic location in Edinburgh where One Day was filmed is Arthur’s Seat, an ancient volcano that sits 251 metres above sea level. The quickest way to climb up to Arthur’s Seat is via the Dunsapie Loch path, the steepest and most direct route, which takes about two hours round trip. Upon arriving at the top, you’ll get a magnificent view of the city. Consider visiting during dawn or evening to catch the breathtaking sunrise and sunset, making your whole experience even more memorable!

One of the scenes was also filmed on the Vennel Steps, a historic alleyway situated off the Grassmarket, boasting an incredible view of Edinburgh Castle.

2. London, England

It offers a panoramic view of the city’s skyline and is open daily from 5am to dusk. Iconic landmarks such as the BT Tower and St Paul’s Cathedral can be spotted from here.

Filming of One Day also took place in Hertfordshire, a charming county in England.  A weekend scene was filmed at Benington Lordship, a private family home with a massive, tranquil garden. The garden is open to the public on select days from February to August. During the month of February, visitors may even have the opportunity to witness a field of enchanting snowdrops — a type of bulb-like flower!

Whereas in August, the venue hosts the Benington Chilli Festival. It’s a local celebration showcasing various chilli peppers, with exciting activities like the chilli eating competition!

What’s more, you can also celebrate love at Hatfield House, the setting for Tilly’s wedding in One Day. It’s an impressive Jacobean house nestled in Hatfield Park, with an entry fee of approximately £24 (~US$30 or ~S$40) per adult. Aside from Netflix’s One Day, other famous movies like Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, V for Vendetta, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory have also utilised this timeless architectural gem as a film set.

Right outside of Hatfield House are the iconic St Etheldreda’s Church and Old Palace, both of which hold significant historical importance and showcase remarkable mediaeval architectural works.

4. Paris, France

Unsurprisingly, Paris, the City of Love, was featured in episode 12 of One Day. What’s a romantic show set in Europe without a Parisian scene, after all? In the series, the couple take a leisurely walk along Rue Pierre Semard, a quiet street lined with a blend of residential and commercial structures, and stop by Passerelle Emmanuelle Riva. Why not explore Passerelle Emmanuelle Riva, a bridge close to many trendy eateries and bars with your loved ones?

Gare du Nord or Paris Nord, was also featured in the Netflix hit. This is a massive 19th-century railway station in the heart of Paris, serving northern France, the UK, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany.

Situated in the heart of the Cyclades archipelago in the Aegean Sea, Paros boasts an undeniable charm with its quintessential Cycladic features, including whitewashed houses, blue-domed churches, and lovely villages.

Home to stunning beaches and cliffs, Paros is a paradise for nature enthusiasts and travellers who seek relaxation. Popular beach spots like Santa Maria and Pounda offer ideal settings for both beginners and experienced windsurfers with their reliable wind conditions, too. Not to mention the delectable local delicacies such as loukoumades, moussaka, and dolmades that foodies will definitely enjoy.

It is a vibrant market which directly translates to “field of flowers” in English. The market comes alive in the morning with vendors selling fresh flowers, fruit, herbs and vegetables every Monday to Saturday. Splashes of colours and happy shoppers make up a picture-perfect backdrop.
