With a diameter of 46.8 metres, Sunland Baobab or Sunland Big Baobab is surely the widest of its kind. However, there’s something more interesting than its enormous size. Hidden inside its trunk are hollows that have been turned into a bar and a wine cellar.
Carbon investigations confirmed that fires occurred in the hollows several times starting from 1650 AD. The tree is also estimated to be over 1,700 years old. Since the establishment of this unique tree bar, Sunland Baobab has become a popular tourist attraction in South Africa.
Curious how the bar looks like? Let’s take a peek inside.
