Each time the lake freezes, the bubbles will appear frozen in their original position right underneath the surface. These frozen bubbles are often referred to as ice bubbles or simply the frozen bubbles.This rare phenomenon has attracted many professional and rookie photographers.
These frozen bubbles are said to form by the high amount of methane gas produced when the lake freezes. The bubbles get trapped underneath the lake once the lake freezes.
However beautiful this scenery may look, the trapped frozen bubbles resulted from high production of flammable methane gas (rapid decomposition from bacteria) is still potentially dangerous. Beneath the picturesque formation lurks a menacing methane gas that may explode anytime. Methane is one of the potent greenhouse gas that is 20 times more harmful than carbon dioxide. The only way to prevent its release into the air is by burning.
