Budapest broke the World Record for the tallest Lego tower on May 25, 2014. Hungarian school children and residents painstakingly coordinated in finishing the 36-metre tower of more than 450,000 plastic bricks. It broke the previous record holder, a 34.4-metre tower constructed last year with the help of U.S. students in Delaware.

The Lego tower can be seen in front of Budapest’s iconic St. Stephen’s Basilica. Local and international spectators can grippingly see a Rubik’s Cube, a Hungarian invention, on top of the Lego tower. With the World Record being beaten almost every year, Lego fanatics around the world are anticipating the next record setter. In the meantime, let Hungary enjoy its rightful victory.
