BTS Fans Are Cancelling James Corden on Twitter & Here’s Why

Do you think this was deserved or too much?

Oh no. James Corden’s clean record as a BTS fan (yes, he’s a self-professed ARMY), might have acquired a bit of rust. He’s currently trending on Twitter as we speak because the BTS ARMY is calling him out for a very careless statement he made about the boys. We’re sure you’ve seen your ARMY friends share the photos of BTS speaking in the UN this week, and this whole James Corden issue has something to do with it.

BTS fans aren’t happy with James Corden

On 20 Sept 2021, BTS spoke in the UN before an audience of diplomats and world leaders to advocate for vaccinations against COVID-19. It wasn’t the first time BTS was given the privilege to speak as youth ambassadors in the UN, and not the second time either. This was, in fact, the K-pop group’s third time to speak in the UN. And this is where James Corden messed up.

“The United Nations General Assembly kicked off this morning in New York City and it started with some pretty unusual visitors — BTS were there,” he said on the Late Late Show With James Corden. The word “unusual” ticked off ARMYs around the world. Evidently for them, BTS speaking in the UN wasn’t unusual at all. It was something that was to be expected at this point, considering BTS’ impact across the globe.

But James Corden, unfortunately, kept digging his own grave as he went on to say, “It actually marks the first time 15-year-old girls everywhere found themselves wishing that they were Secretary-General Antonio Guiterrez.”

On Twitter, ARMYs weren’t happy that their whole fanbase was reduced to being 15-year-old girls when in reality, the ARMY spans many generations and genders. But the deed was done and ARMY was triggered. James might have to revoke his Papa Mochi status on the official Twitter page of his show now.

Well, another day, another cancelled celebrity on Twitter. Sometimes, it’s well-warranted while other times, it’s just blown out of proportion. What kind of instance was this in your opinion? Do you think James Corden deserves to have his Papa Mochi privilege revoked by the BTS ARMY? Let us know your thoughts in the comments on our Facebook page!
