Shilin Singapore Market Will Shift Online This Year

It will be “Singapore’s first and largest digital festival”.

As the coronavirus outbreak shows no signs of abating, strict distancing measures have been enforced to suppress the spread of COVID-19 in Singapore. New digital norms have emerged in lieu of the changes. Shilin Singapore, inspired by the famed Taiwanese night market, adapts to the disruption ingeniously. It returns for its second year with an all-new and innovative digital concept.

The street market which previously occupied over 200,000 square feet at Singapore Turf Club, featuring more than 300 pop-up stores hawking snacks, drinks, and artisanal goods will be held online this year.

Held over two weekends in June (12-14 and 19-21 June 2020), patrons can enjoy food, shopping and entertainment under one platform from the comfort of their couches.

From amazing live stream performances to mouth-watering foodie favourites cooked in front of your eyes and delivered straight to your doorstep – the festival will not compromise on any elements that made its event a success last year.

It is organised by events company Invade, which was behind Shilin Singapore’s first instalment and Artbox Singapore.

“With the closure of retail stores and entertainment venues and no foot traffic to sustain F&B businesses, we thought it was necessary to become the platform that would help these operators to survive,” said Invade founder and chief executive Kent Teo.

“It’s a trying time for everyone in Singapore. Not only do we want to remind the general public that we can still find joy amid hardship, even while at home, we also want to assist our community of businesses to still thrive under such circumstances,” he added.

Potential vendors who are keen to participate in the event can register their interest at https://shilin.sg.
