The idea could be a bit weird but it is now possible to travel the world through your sense of smell. Recently installed at London Heathrow International Airport Terminal 2, the ‘Scent Globe’ will transport you to five iconic destinations of the world: South Africa, Brazil, Japan, China and Thailand. The scent globe gives off a distinct aroma of each country, taking passengers on a sensory journey before leaving the terminal.
Heathrow teamed up with custom fragrance company Design in Scent to produce the exotic scents of the five countries. One will be able to imagine the safari when getting a whiff of South Africa. Brazil scents highlight that of its rainforest, coffee, tobacco and jasmine. Japan scents bring images of its coastal villages. China and Thailand scents let you immerse in the rich culture of the Far East.
Too bad ‘scent globe’ only features these five destinations. If you are to suggest a scent of your own country, what would it be?
