What Lies Beneath Qiandao Lake Is More Fascinating To See

Qiandao Lake, also known as the Thousand Island Lake, in Zhejiang, China is a wonderful sight to behold but what lies beneath is even more fascinating to see.

Qiandao Lake, also known as the Thousand Island Lake, is an artificial lake that was created when the valley was flooded in 1959 to build the Xin’anjiang Reservoir in the province of Zhejiang, China.

Considered to be one of the most attractive lakes in China, Qiandao Lake is home to more than a thousand exotic islands with verdant environment and rich natural habitats. Its themed islands like Bird Island, Snake Island, Monkey Island and many others make it a popular tourist destination. However, what lies beneath the lake is even more fascinating to see.

Hidden deep under the water is the ancient Lion City that dates back to the Eastern Han Dynasty. While it was not too long ago when the ancient city was submerged, the ruins were perfectly preserved that it had to be called the rediscovered ‘Atlantis of China’.
