Going to Japan this summer? It’s the opportune time to see the real-life Thomas the Tank Engine running through the Oigawa Railway in Shizuoka Prefecture. This is a creative attempt to boost tourism in the region. Thomas brings visitors closer to the untouched mountains, soothing hot springs and other natural attractions in the surrounding area.
Unfortunately, tickets are all sold out for the month of July. Don’t fret if you can’t get inside the life-sized steam locomotive. Seeing it coming while hearing the “choo-choo” sound would be more than enough to bring out that childhood spirit in you.
