Bali Reopens to All International Travellers: Here’s What We Know So Far

It's been too long, Bali.

At long last, Bali, Indonesia reopens to all foreign tourists! It was announced on 1 Feb 2022, Monday that the island getaway will start accepting international travellers this week. According to Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Pandjaitan, fully vaccinated travellers will be welcomed to Bali with a required quarantine of five days

This follows a special policy implemented in October 2021 when Indonesia allowed international flights from select countries to Bali. Despite the fact that Indonesia has reported a slight increase in cases as it reopens its borders to foreign travellers, the US Centres for Disease and Control Prevention rates Indonesia with only a Level 1 travel advisory. This means the country is a low-risk destination for COVID-19. That said, the CDC does recommend that travellers be inoculated with a booster before flying to Indonesia.

As of writing, Indonesia has recorded around 7,000 to 8,000 cases per day in the last week. Its fully vaccinated population is at 45.9%. If this is your first time visiting Bali, then as foreign tourists, you better read up on the dos and don’ts. Have a happy island vacation!
