Jeju Island has long been a favourite destination for nature lovers and families, and now it just got even better. On 11 July 2025, Jeju Shinhwa World will unveil MomoZoo, South Korea’s first ever capybara-themed zoo.
Nestled within the sprawling Shinhwa Theme Park, MomoZoo offers visitors a unique chance to get up close with these gentle giants in a carefully crafted environment designed to mimic their natural habitat.

Capybaras are the world’s largest rodents and are beloved for their calm demeanour and social nature. At MomoZoo, visitors can observe these fascinating creatures in thoughtfully designed indoor and outdoor habitats that prioritise their well-being.

The spacious, naturalistic environments allow capybaras to roam freely, relax, and interact naturally. Visitors also have the opportunity to feed the capybaras during designated feeding sessions, making the encounter even more memorable and interactive.
Unique seasonal water experiences

A standout feature of MomoZoo is its seasonal water zones. During the warmer months, capybaras delight in swimming in specially designed pools.
When the weather cools, they soak in warm spring water, an iconic behaviour popularised in Japanese zoos. This seasonal bathing not only keeps the animals comfortable but also offers visitors a rare and intimate view of their social habits and routines.
More than just capybaras

While capybaras are the stars of the show, MomoZoo also houses other charming animals such as rabbits, mini pigs, sheep and more.
Visitors can participate in interactive feeding sessions and educational programmes that highlight the unique characteristics and care of these animals. It’s a perfect setting for families and animal enthusiasts to learn and engage in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.

Whether it’s the Larva-themed rides, the Dancing Oscar rollercoaster, or the lush theme park grounds, there’s plenty to enjoy for all ages.
