‘White Chicks’ Actor Says the World Needs a ‘White Chicks 2’ Now More Than Ever

It’s been 17 years since White Chicks was first released in cinemas worldwide, and many of us still aren’t over it. Over the years, it became the thing to draw hilarious lines from the film and post them as memes or jokes on social media. Surely you’ve heard its popular quotes like “What a beautiful chocolate man!” and the “yo mama!” banter. Let’s not forget that the movie literally breathed life into Vanessa Carlton’s A Thousand Miles again.

Now, White Chicks is considered to be one of the most iconic comedy movies of all time right up along Mean Girls. Fans have been clamouring for a sequel, and it looks like even the showrunners want to make a White Chicks 2. Marlon Wayans, who was a writer, actor, and producer in the show, recently talked about how a sequel was definitely on the table. 

White Chicks 2 is what we need

In an interview with Variety in August 2021, Wayans spoke about how much of a big hit a second movie would be, not just because of its huge fandom, but also because people are looking for avenues to laugh carefree again amidst these dark times. According to Wayans, the fans can’t help but write their own sequel ideas at this point. 

“I think White Chicks 2 is necessary. I think we’ve tightened up so much that we need to loosen our ties a bit and laugh a little bit. I don’t think Hollywood understands what a juggernaut White Chicks 2 would be. And the world just keeps giving us more [ideas]. White Chicks 2 is writing itself,” Wayans said.

Officially, the project still hasn’t been greenlit; but it looks like there are small developments that are moving very slowly. The good thing is, Marlon and Shawn Wayans have both expressed the desire to push through with White Chicks 2, and if there’s a will, there’s definitely a way. Now, can we just please fast forward to the time when the sequel will be released?
