From the man behind the Underwater Museum comes another incredible piece of underwater art. Meet Ocean Atlas, Jason deCaires Taylor’s newest underwater sculpture submerged off the coast of Nassau in the Bahamas. This 18-foot tall and 60-ton statue of a girl is by far the largest underwater sculpture in the world.
This new underwater attraction aims to draw the attention of divers away from the overused marine reef areas. Like many underwater sculptures, Ocean Atlas is constructed using sustainable pH neutral materials that would soon create an artificial reef for marine life to inhabit. Together with other works of local artists, Ocean Atlas will create an underwater sculpture garden in honour of the founder of B.R.E.E.F (Bahamas Reef Environment Educational Foundation).
Don’t miss this underwater masterpiece when you visit the Bahamas in North America.
