Also called the ATM cave or Xibalba to the locals, Actun Tunichil Muknal had a long and dark history. In the ancient Mayan civilisation, people used this site to sacrifice humans and please the gods who were believed to be living there. In addition to the grizzly stories, you can really see the skeletal remains of the sacrificial victims – young or old, male or female, rich or poor, no one was exempted.
