As firefighters battled the blaze through the night, hundreds of medical staff, paramedics, and police rushed to the scene, working tirelessly to rescue trapped residents and treat the injured.

Across Tai Po, community centres and halls were quickly converted into temporary shelters. It was reported that the residents at the temporary shelter are a mix of ages, but most are elderly. Volunteers streamed in with blankets, warm meals, bottled water, clothing, and daily necessities.

As of the time of writing, the death toll of the Tai Po fire has risen to at least 55, including a firefighter. At least 123 people were injured in the blaze, including eight firefighters. It was also reported earlier that 279 people were missing.
