Revelling in Bali’s Beaches on A Family Vacation

Klessis and her family spend time relaxing on the beaches of Bali, enjoying the fresh air and blue skies away from the hustle and bustle of Singapore.

Thanks to Jetstar, we were able to fly the whole family over to Bali for free. It was great considering we’ve not been to Bali before and it was Jayne’s first flight. The first thing that struck me about Bali when we landed was how cooling the place was. I was all prepared for hot and dry weather for our four days there, but to my very pleasant surprise, it was only 28°C when we landed in the afternoon! It was windy and sunny, and you can literally smell ‘H-o-l-i-d-a-y-s’ in the air. At night, the temperature even dropped to about 25°C and it was amazingly cooling.

The next thing that struck me was how BLUE the skies were. I mean, I do know we earthlings share the same sky, and there was no reason Bali could have bluer skies than Singapore, but it was really so. I could just stand there watching the skies all day long. Just to prove my point. Blue skies were everywhere we went. It did much good to my soul.

Right after we checked-in at our hotel, we took a stroll along the beach. Our hotel was located at Kuta, and Kuta Beach is a surfer’s paradise. Many tourists flock there year after year just to enjoy the waves. When we were there, it was low tide, and very peaceful. So therapeutic for my mind.

The sands were fine and almost white, and the skies were a solid blue. It was a perfect combination.

The girls were just enjoying themselves running on the beach, picking up sand and seashells. Unlike the concrete jungle of Singapore where Daddy and Mummy would tell them to stop running, here they could run for as long as they liked. =)

Someone was selling seashells on the seashore!

The sand was unlike that of the beaches in Singapore, being so fine that you can’t build sandcastles with them.

We stayed at Febris Hotel & Spa for four days. It was a great place to stay at – the staff were wonderful, service was efficient and just a walk out of the hotel would bring us to a street full of restaurants, convenience stores and markets. The Waterbom water theme park was located just a three minutes walk away from our hotel, and a big shopping mall with Cold Stone Creamery, Starbucks, Coffee Bean, Pizza Hut etc. was further down the road. It was also very near to the International Airport, just a mere 5 minutes’ drive away.

There are two pretty swimming pools in the hotel, which were beautiful and usually free from crowds. Great for the kids actually.

I love the bustling atmosphere right outside the hotel. So much Bali culture.

Bali streets

Interestingly, there were horse carriage rides available on the streets. The horses were beautiful! We made friends with them as we walked past them several times a day.

Our first meal in Bali was not Balinese. =P We were hungry and didn’t want to walk far to get our very late lunch, so we settled for pizza and pasta at the restaurant right outside our hotel.

As it was past lunch hour, the whole restaurant was quiet. Such a nice place for us to enjoy our first meal at! Hubby and I just relaxed and basked in the whole holiday mood while the kids created havoc.

I ordered a pizza with spicy pepperoni, and it was devilishly hot! Hubby had to remind me that this was Indonesia.

We’re enjoyed our vacation and Bali is indeed a perfect venue for family vacations!
