Of course you have to comb the largest shopping mall in Singapore during GSS. VivoCity covers over 100,000 metre squares of retail space and has shops catered to everyone — the young, the old, budget shoppers as well as brand conscious ones. It is conveniently connected to HarbourFront MRT and a railway away from Resorts World Sentosa. Suntanning by the beach after a crazy day of shopping? Sounds like a perfect idea.

We’re cheating a little on this one, but these three malls, which are situated just beside one another, cluster together to provide us with one hell of a shopping experience. With 591 tenant units in total, you might as well empty your entire GSS budget here. From inexpensive fashion labels to high-end international flagship brands, there’s definitely something for everyone.

JCube also has a newly launched shopping area, J.Avenue, which is inspired by the influential Harajuku and Hongdae shopping district styles from Tokyo and Seoul. And after hours of shopping frenzy, head over to JCube and have some ice action on Singapore’s first Olympic-size ice-skating rink.

Causeway Point is like the ION Orchard of Northern Singapore; the to-go mall for northies to get their shopping fix. It’s the seventh largest suburban mall in Singapore and houses over 200 stores and services, including famous retailers like Uniqlo. An equally satisfying shopping experience without having to head to town? Count me in!

7. Orchard Gateway

We all can agree that one of the most annoying things about living in Singapore is the crowd. Whether it’s at the streets of Orchard Road or that new Michelin-starred restaurant, people are everywhere. And having them to compete with us for our GSS hunts? No way.

This is why the new Orchard Gateway is such a joy to waltz through. Without having to push through hoards of hassled shoppers, shopping is going to be so much more enjoyable. Directly connected via Somerset MRT, this underrated retail gem is super accessible as well.

Notable tenants: Crate and Barrel, DC Comics Super Heroes, Dorothy Perkins/Miss Selfridge, LUSH Fresh Handmade Cosmetics, TotallyHotStuff

8. Sim Lim Square

Since Tampines is Singapore’s residential estate giant, it’s no surprise that it’s home to this massive shopping enclave. Like its west-side counterparts in Jurong, these three malls assemble together in the heart of Tampines to provide Singapore’s easties a wholesome shopping experience in their very own heartland. With over 400 retail stores, two cinemas, two departmental stores and a rooftop water playground, this enormous retail trio assures you that there’s no time to idle.

Century Square even has an entire floor dedicated to women, lined with female fashion labels and even a lavishly decorated restroom decked with sofas and unmissable mirrors at every corner. Ladies, soak yourself in that temporary tai-tai lifestyle when you’re there.
