I honestly don’t want to do something that would scare the hell out of me but if you’re someone who’s up for a macabre adventure, then entering the Capuchin Catacombs of Palermo, Italy is certainly worth a try.

The catacombs were originally built for the dead friars only, but it wasn’t long before local luminaries also wanted their bodies to be preserved there. Some bodies were embalmed, sealed in glass cabinets and dressed in their favourite attires. The catacombs contain about 8,000 mummies and one of the best preserved bodies was Rosalia Lombardo, a two-year old girl whose body still remains intact since 1920.

The photos are already creeping me out. I don’t think I would ever spend a day inside this spine-chilling attraction in Italy. Would you?
Don’t miss the Capuchin Catacombs of Palermo when you visit Italy.
