8 New Attractions in Disney Parks to Look Forward to in 2020 & Beyond

Wishes really do come true. From Frozen-themed roller coasters to fighting alongside Marvel Superheroes, here’s what you can expect to see at Disney Parks over the new few years!

Disney has big plans for the future. Disney’s announcement at the 2019 D23 Expo outlays her ambitious plans to take over the world, one fairytale attraction at a time. With the vision of bringing the next generation of storytelling to life, new rides are landing, fresh attractions are being built as Disney attempts to meld old and new fairytales together. 

If you’re curious about what the future holds for Disney Parks in the world, read on! Let’s take a look at what you can expect to see at Disney Parks over the next few years. 

1 – Frozen World

Where: Hong Kong Disneyland, Hong Kong
Debut: 2021

Frozen will find its new home in Hong Kong Disneyland, where the world of “Arendelle” will come to life! Guests will also get to experience two new attractions. This includes the Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs – where Olaf and Sven will help pull your sled to the top of the lift before sending you on your way. Frozen Ever After, will also be opening at the new “Frozen” area. This attraction will take guests on an adventurous journey through the kingdom of Arendelle. It’ll be quite the ride and the perfect opportunity to Let it Go!  

2 – Cirque du Soleil

Where: Disney Spring, Florida
Debut: Spring 2020

Imagine if Cirque du Soleil and Disney had a baby: that’s exactly what this new attraction will be. This special collaboration will see guests transported into a world where Disney animation will be experienced like never before. Leap into a live acrobatic journey as Disney characters are brought to life. We’d recommend reserving your tickets in advance, so book them here!

3 – Avengers Campus (Also featuring a new Spiderman ride!)

Where: Disney California Adventure Park, California
Debut: 2020

Let’s be real: we’ve all wanted to be superheroes. Well, here’s your chance! Avenger Campus is launching soon, allowing guests to suit up together with Marvel superheroes and fight the baddies. The Marvel universe is expended with the creation of a new organization, The Worldwide Engineering Brigade (WEB) founded by Tony Stark. Get ready for an immersive and interactive experience with your favourite superheroes! There will also be a Spiderman ride that will allow visitors to shoot webs at spider bots running amok using “Web Slingers”. 

4 – Disney Genie

Where: Across all Disney Parks
Debut: Late 2020

Who needs a magic lamp these days?! Capitalizing on the hype surrounding the latest Aladdin release, Disney will be debuting ‘Disney Genie”. That’s right; your favourite blue-toned magical character now lives on your phone and also plans your Disney trips. 

This digital genie is designed to help improve guests’ park experience for the better by providing customized itineraries based on guest preferences. Tell your genie what you want (to experience), and he will quickly evaluate millions of options and grant you the most optimal itinerary! Disney Genie can also send you real-time news, tips and updates, allowing you to navigate the parks seamlessly! Trust us, you’ve never had a friend like this guy. 

5 – Beauty and the Beast: Sing-Along Show

Where: France Pavilion in Epcot, Orlando
Debut: January 2020

Get ready for a tale as old as time! As part of the ongoing transformation of Epcot, 4 new films have been announced, with “Beauty and the Beast: Sing-Along” as one of the featured films. This special is directed by Don Han, producer of both Disney’s adaptations of the classic tale. This new show will not replace current show Impressions de France but will run in the theatre at alternating timings. Come on down and sing-along to a couple of iconic Disney hits! Angsty buff guys named Gaston are not allowed. 

6 – Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure

Where: France Pavilion in Epcot, Orlando
Debut: Jan 2020

Navigate through Gusteau’s restaurant as the size of a mouse! Inspired by the iconic 2007 film (that resulted in a boost in sales for pet rats, #funfact) this attraction is expected to be similar to the original ride in Disneyland Paris – Ratatouille: L’Aventure Totalement Toquée de Rémy. This 3D trackless ride will see guests shrink to the size of Remy as they get chased through Gusteau’s Parisian restaurant.

7 – Magic Happens

Where: Disneyland Park, California
Debut: 2020

A new parade is coming to town! Magic Happens is a reminder to all (big kids included) that we don’t need wings to fly and that the magic doesn’t stop at midnight. This show-stopping parade will feature stunning floats, beautiful costumes and beloved Disney Characters from “Moana”, “Sleeping Beauty”, “Aladdin”, “Cocco” and more! – all led by Mickey Mouse and gang. 

8 – Journey of Water

Where: World Nature in Epcot, Orlando
Debut: 2021

It’s time to pop the champagne! Say hello to the first-ever Moana-themed attraction in Disney Parks (there’s no telling how far we’ll go… to get ourselves there.) Journey of Water is a ‘Moana inspired’ walk-through attraction that allows guests to interact with magical, living water in a beautiful and inspiring setting.
