Travellers in Dubai Airport Can Now Stream Movies – for Free

As part of a tie-up with ICFLIX, passengers in DBX can now stream movies through a video-on-demand service trial.

Travelling to Dubai or having a transit at their airport within the next two months? We have great news! Travellers at Dubai International Airport (DBX) can now stream movies to their mobile devices and laptops – for free!

Movies are currently available in three languages including English, so you can look forward to the latest Hollywood blockbusters.

This service is part of a two-month trial with regional content provided ICFLIX.

To take advantage of this service, travellers have to download the ICFLIX app and log-in to the airport’s free WiFi service. The free streaming is available 24 hours.

This service leverages on DBX’s WiFi, which is reportedly the world’s fastest free WiFi connection at an airport.

Just last year, Frankfurt Airport also launched a trial where users can browse and stream a library of free entertainment, including movies and popular music.

While there are airports around the world that screen movies in theatres, such as Singapore’s Changi Airport and Korea’s Incheon International Airport, the airport video-on-demand service is a relatively new initiative.

For the sake of long transits, let’s hope that this trial will be a success and implemented permanently in future, in Dubai and elsewhere.
