Daphne Bridgerton Makeup Guide: Best Beauty Products to Cop the Look

It’s all about the rosy-peach hues and fresh, dewy complexion.

Yes, we’ve certainly observed a lot of love lessons while binge-watching Bridgerton. But you know what else we’ve picked up on? Why, Daphne’s splendid no-makeup makeup looks, of course! While many women from The Ton had on cosmetics in vivacious tones to match their opulent Regency-era OOTDs, the main protagonist keeps it effortlessly chic in subtle rosy-peach hues and an inner glow-esque complexion. There’s a reason why she was the season’s Diamond of the First Water, after all.

Fortunately, the look is something you can easily copy; no dashing duke or aristocratic roots needed! And we’re here to show you how to cop it for your everyday beauty routine; using either the actual products handpicked by the show’s makeup team, more accessible alternatives, or even a mix of both.

1. Skin prep

The key to rocking the no-makeup makeup look is a healthy complexion; that is, the kind that barely needs makeup to look good, to begin with. It goes without saying that having the right skincare routine is super important. So, aside from your usual skincare items at night, prep your skin further with a face mask (we obviously don’t mean the medical kind) and more.

Must-haves: Face masks and lip masks

Korean face masks are the way to go. Our top picks for glowing, well-hydrated skin include Mediheal’s R:NA Proatin Face Mask and Dr. Jart+’s Dermask Water Jet Vital Hydra Solution. For those with dry skin and need something more intensive, try the COSRX’s Ultimate Nourishing Rice Overnight Spa Mask

Say goodbye to dry, chappedy lips with the Laneige’s Lip Sleeping Mask. Leave it on overnight and wake up to see (and feel) the difference. Feel free to thank us later, dearest reader.

2. Primer

Start your look with a base that promises a fab dewy look.

What was used

Image credit: Ole Henriksen Official Website

Ole Henriksen is a cult-fave Danish beauty brand that’s best known for its anti-ageing products. So, it’s no surprise that the Banana Bright Face Primer was the Bridgerton makeup team’s pick for Daphne’s youthful glow.

What else you can use

Clearly, the Ole Henriksen primer is a bit on the pricey side. One alternative would be The Ordinary High-Spreadability Fluid Primer that boasts a lightweight serum-like texture and is equally good for full-coverage makeup. Another would be e.l.f. Cosmetics’  Hydrating Face Primer for dry to normal skin, as well as Fenty Beauty’s Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Primer for those with oily types. There’s also the NYX Professional Makeup Honey Dew Me Up Primer, which has both anti-ageing effects and light-reflective gold specks if you’re feeling a bit extra.

3. Highlighter

We can’t be the only ones who noticed that the Bridgerton beauty looks were all about accentuated cheekbones and collarbones! What better way to complement the female characters’ Regency-era necklines and hairstyles, right?

For this, MAC’s Strobe Cream in Peachlite was the go-to. Add a few drops on your fingertips and dab ever so gently under your clavicle, jawbones, and cheeks.

A similar product for that inner glow illusion is the Milani Strobe Light Liquid Highlighter in Summer Glow

3. Foundation

Of course, you’ll need a great foundation to complete that fresh dewy look. Make sure to use the right shade to cover those flaws and even out your skin tone!

What was used

Image credit: Chanel Official Website; Laura Mercier Official Website

The Bridgerton makeup team sure picked foundation products that are fit for a British aristocrat like Daphne. Case in point: Chanel’s Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation and Laura Mercier’s Flawless Lumière Radiance-Perfecting Foundation

What else you can use

Image credit: Clinique Official Website; Happy Skin Official Website

Unlike the show’s characters who live in a less sunny climate (and spend most of their time indoors because they can), we mere mortals in tropical countries need all the sun protection we can get. For that, we recommend Clinique’s Even Better Glow Light Reflecting Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15. But if the lofty price is more of the issue, then might we suggest Happy Skin’s Ready To Glow Anti E-Aging Liquid Foundation?

4. Cheek tint

Add some of this on the apples of your cheeks for that naturally flushed look. If you’re not sure where it is, they’reit’s basically the front parts that pop up whenever you grin!

Try the Stila Convertible Colour in Lillium for that silky finish in a rosy-peach tint.

What else you can use

An equally stunning dupe would be the Sunnies Face Airblush in Moon. The cute minimalist packing doesn’t hurt, either!

5. Eyeshadow

Another key feature of the look is the light neutral eyeshadow shades. Best to smudge it in just a bit for an even softer gaze!

Put on some MAC Eyeshadow in Brun on your inner lids, as well as the MAC Eyeshadow in Malt on the outer lids and under your brow bones.

What else you can use

Need more alternatives for taupe and peachy-brown shades that are better suited for your skin tone? Best to go with L’Oréal Paris’ Colour Riche La Palette palette in Nude Intense! It even has a mix of sparkly and matte textures for added variety.

6. Mascara

Rule of thumb when it comes to your Bridgerton beauty look: Ditch the falsies and opt for a mascara that has a lengthening (rather than volumising) effect instead.

What was used

We weren’t so surprised when we found out that the show’s makeup team used Clinique’s Power Lash Mascara. It’s basically almost as amazing as an actual lash lift!

What else you can use

Need something you can easily find in your neighbourhood pharmacy? We recommend Maybelline’s Falsies Lash Lift Mascara that’ll also give you long, clump-free lashes — especially for when you’re about to meet your own Simon Bassett.

7. Eyebrows

Well-defined, natural-looking brows are definitely essential when it comes to framing your face.

What was used

Image credit: L’Oréal Paris Official Website

Among the items used for the look, L’Oreal Paris’ Brow Artist Micro Tattoo Makeup is certainly the most affordable! It features a comb-tip applicator for absolute precision and a microblade-like effect. Oh, and don’t even get us started on the 48-hour formula that’s both waterproof and smudge-resistant.

Depending on the thickness of your arches, you might need a different product to complement your look. Those with thinner brow hair or have sparse areas can count on MAC’s Shape + Shade Brow Tint: a two-in-one tool that has both liquid tint and brow powder! For those blessed with naturally full brows that need minimal makeup, we suggest a light touch of Shiseido’s Eyebrow Pencil.

8. Lip colour

While the IRL Regency era was all about bright cheeks and even brighter lips, the show clearly went in a different direction — at least when it came to the look. And we, for one, can’t complain!

What was used

Image credit: Dr PawPaw Official Website; Charlotte Tilbury Official Website; Pixi Beauty Official Website

This one involves a bit more items, but stay with us here. Start by applying Dr PawPaw Tinted Peach Pink Balm all over your lips, then trace the edges with Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat Lip Liner in Pillow Talk. And then top it all off with a complementing shade; in this case, it’s Pixi Sheer Cheek Gel in Natural

What else you can use

Overall, the best-lookalike combo would definitely be the MAC Lip Pencil in Soar, followed by the MAC Satin Lipstick in Twig. Another alternative would be Maybelline’s Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lipstick in Midtown Pink. For a subtler finish, try mixing Happy Skin’s Love Your Lips Intense Color Butter Balm in Bliss and Tony Moly’s Liptone Get It Tint in Baby Coral
