Tourists from both Australia and Vietnam will now be able to travel to Singapore. The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) announced that border restrictions will be lifted for visitors from Vietnam and Australia. This will take effect from 8th October 2020.
However, the restrictions will still apply for those from Australia’s state of Victoria.
With visitors from Brunei and New Zealand also permitted to enter, Singapore will now have tourists arriving from four countries.
CAAS emphasized that Vietnam has not reported any local COVID-19 cases in the last 28 days. Furthermore, Australia’s local incidence rate for COVID-19 infections was 0.02 per 100,000. This is excluding the cases from the state of Victoria.
CAAS stated that it is very unlikely for cases to be imported from these countries.
Air Travel Pass
An Air Travel Pass will be mandatory for those entering Singapore. Visitors must obtain the pass seven to 30 days prior to their arrival in Singapore.
They must have also have stayed in Australia (excluding Victoria State) or Vietnam in the last 14 consecutive days prior to their intended travel to Singapore.
Travelers can apply for the pass from 1st October. They can enter Singapore from 8th October.
Precautionary Measures
Upon arriving in Singapore, visitors will take a swab test. They can enter the country if they test negative. They will then not need to serve a 14-day Stay-Home notice.

They will have to implement other precautionary measures such as using the TraceTogether app. They will also have to take responsibility for their medical bills during their visit.
CAAS further stated that Singapore Citizens, Permanent Residents, and Long-Term Pass holders returning from Vietnam and Australia (excluding those from Victoria state) will similarly undergo a COVID-19 test upon arrival.
As of now, the travel arrangements between Singapore and the four countries are unilateral. This means those countries may not have made similar arrangements for visitors from Singapore.
