PokéPark Kanto: Tokyo's New Pokémon Theme Park in 2026

A Pokémon Theme Park Is Coming to Tokyo in 2026: PokéPark Kanto

Gotta Catch 'Em All!

Pokémon fans, this is not a drill. Come spring 2026, Japan will finally open the doors to its very first permanent outdoor Pokémon theme park. It’s set to be a dream come true for anyone who’s ever wished they could step into the Pokémon world.

The park, officially called PokéPark Kanto, will be built inside Yomiuriland Amusement Park. It sits in the lush Tama Hills straddling Inagi (Tokyo) and Kawasaki. The project is a collaboration between The Pokémon Company, Yomiuri Land, and The Yomiuri Shimbun. Advance ticket sales are slated to kick off in late 2025!

The park will span a huge 26,000 square metres (about the size of four football fields!). It will be split into two main themed zones:

Sedge Town

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to live in a Pokémon town, this is your chance. Sedge Town recreates the look and feel of the games and anime, complete with A Pokémon Center and Poké Mart. The Sedge Gym and a bustling Pokémon Trainers’ Market with plenty of exclusive merchandise. A charming town square with a fountain and parades, and meet-and-greets with Pokémon, bringing the world to life!

Think of it as your hometown in the Pokémon world, only this time, you don’t have to play through a screen.

Pokémon Forest

For those who love the thrill of exploration, Pokémon Forest is the place to wander. Stretching nearly 500 metres in length, it’s designed like the routes in the games. Complete with hilly paths, tall grass, tunnels, and rocky trails.

Here, you’ll encounter over 600 Pokémon species integrated into the environment, appearing to run, battle, and even share food in their natural habitats. It’s as close as it gets to actually being in the wild.

While there have been temporary Pokémon events and pop-ups before, PokePark Kanto will be the first-ever permanent outdoor attraction dedicated to Pokémon. That means fans from around the world will always have a place to experience the franchise in a truly immersive way.

Junichi Masuda, Chief Creative Fellow at The Pokémon Company, explained the vision best: “We wanted to make a place everyone could come together and enjoy, a space where Pokémon will always be and where people and Pokémon can have fun together.”

With its location inside Yomiuriland, PokePark Kanto will be easily accessible for travellers exploring Tokyo. Yomiuriland itself is already a beloved amusement park surrounded by greenery, and this new addition will make it an even bigger draw for visitors.

Advance tickets will go on sale in late 2025, and if past Pokémon experiences are anything to go by, you’ll want to grab yours early!
