Super Nintendo World Singapore: Opening Date, Rides and Latest Updates

Nintendo fans, it is finally official. Super Nintendo World is coming to Universal Studios Singapore, bringing the colourful characters and larger-than-life landscapes of Nintendo’s games closer to home.

Before you start planning your race around Rainbow Road, however, there is one important detail to note. The themed land is currently in development, but its opening date, attraction line-up and layout have yet to be announced.

Here is everything we know so far, along with a few clues from the Super Nintendo World attractions already operating overseas.

Super Nintendo World Singapore is officially in development

Plans for Singapore’s Super Nintendo World first emerged in 2019 as part of the major Resorts World Sentosa 2.0 expansion.

The S$4.5 billion project was expected to increase Resorts World Sentosa’s gross floor area by about 50%, adding more than 164,000 square metres of attractions, entertainment and lifestyle offerings. Super Nintendo World and the then-planned Minion Park were announced as the first new themed environments at Universal Studios Singapore since the park opened in 2010.

At the time, the developments were projected to open progressively between 2020 and around 2025. That timeline has since passed, so earlier reports claiming that Super Nintendo World would open “by 2025” are no longer accurate.

What we do know is that the project remains active. Genting Singapore currently lists Super Nintendo World as “in development”, while Illumination’s Minion Land, the other major USS addition announced in 2019, opened in February 2025.

What will Super Nintendo World Singapore be like?

Official information about the Singapore version remains limited. Resorts World Sentosa has only confirmed that it will be an immersive environment inspired by Nintendo’s games, with attractions, shops and restaurants designed to make guests feel as though they have stepped into a Nintendo adventure.

Still, the existing Super Nintendo World lands offer a good idea of the experience Singapore could eventually deliver.

Super Nintendo World currently operates at Universal Studios Japan in Osaka, Universal Studios Hollywood in California and Universal Epic Universe in Orlando. These lands bring the Mushroom Kingdom to life with moving coins, colourful game-inspired landscapes, green Warp Pipes and familiar landmarks such as Peach’s Castle and Bowser’s Castle.

Visitors can also purchase Power-Up Bands, wearable devices that connect with interactive elements throughout the land. Depending on the park, guests can punch Question Blocks, collect digital coins, complete challenges and track their scores.

These features would feel right at home in Singapore, but none has been officially confirmed for USS yet.

Could Mario Kart be coming to Singapore?

Mario Kart is understandably at the top of many fans’ wish lists. Existing Super Nintendo World locations feature Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge, known as Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge in Japan. The interactive dark ride combines physical sets, projection mapping and augmented-reality technology, allowing riders to steer through familiar Mario Kart environments, launch shells and compete for coins.

A Mario Kart attraction was already discussed when Super Nintendo World was first announced for Singapore in 2019. However, USS has not confirmed whether its version of the land will include the ride.

The same applies to Yoshi’s Adventure, a gentler family ride through the Mushroom Kingdom. The attraction operates in Osaka and Orlando, but not at Universal Studios Hollywood, proving that each Super Nintendo World does not necessarily receive the same line-up.

Will Singapore get Donkey Kong Country too?

Donkey Kong Country has expanded the Super Nintendo World experience at Universal Studios Japan and Universal Epic Universe.

Its headline attraction is Mine-Cart Madness, a family roller coaster inspired by the Donkey Kong Country games. The ride uses an unusual track system to create the illusion that the mine cart is jumping over gaps in the track as guests race through the jungle.

While the Greater Sentosa announcement references an immersive Super Nintendo World, it does not mention Donkey Kong Country or Mine-Cart Madness. For now, their arrival in Singapore remains firmly on the wish list rather than the confirmed attraction list.

Nintendo-themed food and merchandise could be part of the experience

Dining and shopping were included in Resorts World Sentosa’s original plans, although specific concepts have not been revealed.

Overseas versions of Super Nintendo World feature Nintendo-inspired restaurants such as Toadstool Cafe and Kinopio’s Cafe. Their menus have included playful creations such as Mario burgers, Yoshi-inspired pasta and Question Block desserts.

Visitors can also shop for exclusive headbands, clothing, toys, collectibles and character merchandise. Singapore may eventually offer its own selection, but fans will have to wait for official details.

Super Nintendo World is part of a much bigger Sentosa transformation

The latest update places Super Nintendo World alongside the Greater Sentosa Master Plan, a long-term project that will integrate Sentosa with the 120-hectare Brani and introduce new attractions, hotels and visitor experiences over the next two decades.

Other proposed developments include:

• Imbiah Canopy, a new viewpoint, lifestyle space and attraction area on Mount Imbiah

• Imbiah Lookout Walk, a sheltered elevated forest walkway

• Sensorium, a beachfront precinct for indoor attractions, events and lifestyle experiences

• Rejuvenated beaches and new coastal activities

• A floating boardwalk connecting islets along Sentosa’s coastline

• New beach club and treetop dining concepts

• A People Mover System intended to replace the Sentosa Express

• Possible water-taxi links between the mainland and Greater Sentosa

The wider Greater Sentosa transformation is expected to unfold progressively from the early 2030s. However, this should not be interpreted as an opening window for Super Nintendo World. The separate Waterfront Lifestyle Development is scheduled for completion in 2030, but no equivalent date has been announced for the Nintendo attraction.

When will Super Nintendo World Singapore open?

As of July 2026, there is no confirmed opening date. Ticket prices, rides, restaurants, character appearances and opening arrangements also remain unknown. Travellers should therefore be cautious of older articles that continue to list 2025 as the expected opening year.

For now, the most accurate update is simple: Super Nintendo World is officially coming to Universal Studios Singapore and is currently in development. Whether we will be racing through Bowser’s Castle, riding with Yoshi or hopping into Donkey Kong’s mine cart remains to be seen. But one thing is certain. Sentosa’s next chapter is shaping up to be a particularly exciting one for Nintendo fans.
