Spanning the border between Argentina and Brazil, Iguazu Falls is undoubtedly one of the world’s largest and most stunning waterfalls. It is shared by the Iguazú National Park in Argentina and Iguaçu National Park in Brazil – both are considered UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Iguazu Falls can be reached from the two main towns on either side of the falls: Puerto Iguazú in Argentina and Foz do Iguaçu in Brazil, as well as from Ciudad del Este, Paraguay, on the other side of the Paraná River.
Legend has it that a god planned to marry a beautiful lady but she eloped with her mortal lover aboard a canoe. The god was so devastated that he sliced the river and created the horseshoe shaped waterfalls, condemning the lovers to an eternal fall.
