1. Kuala Selangor Nature Park

Almost 30 years since its establishment, Kuala Selangor Nature Park, an old park located next to the Selangor River, is still a crowd favourite among locals. Even before it was transformed into a Park Interpretive Centre, this place was a mangrove forest teeming with wildlife. Today, visitors can enter to watch birds and primates, chill by a man-made lake, or even just take a stroll around the area and soak in the serene atmosphere.

Other than a one-day trip here, you can also request to stay in its chalets, huts, dorms, or hostels. There are also group activities available such as nature craft and paper recycling, bird watching, and mangrove tree planting!

Possibly the “greenest” town in Malaysia, Sekinchan is known for its beautiful paddy fields. In this town itself, there are already many must-go places and fun activities to do, such as watching fireflies, taking pretty pictures at the Kuala Selangor Sky Mirror, learning about rice harvesting at the Paddy Gallery, or even just enjoying the sight of the gorgeous paddy field. You could also head to the nearby Pantai Redang beach for an immaculate day in the sun or make a wish at the popular Wishing Tree near the area.

Besides, Sekinchan is full of unique homestays that will provide a memorable staycation. Look out for colourful and cosy homestays like Padi Box and Anjung Pool Villa where you can enjoy a therapeutic break from the city with blue skies and green foliage views to boot.

Broga Hill in Semenyih is one of the best and most famous hiking destinations in the state. Climbing up Broga Hill is not difficult, so it’s suitable for even beginner hikers. Usually, it takes around one to two hours to reach the peak of the hill.

The hill is 400 meters above sea level, offering stunning views of the cities, and is a wonderful destination if you love watching sunset and sunrise. We recommend starting out at around 4am so that you can make it to the peak in time to catch the sunrise. It’s truly mesmerising! Moreover, there are other spots like farms, orchards, fisheries and a famous Taoist temple, Sak Dato Temple around the area, all reachable within just a few minutes drive.

Having been to Bukit Sungai Long myself, I can say that this place is truly a hidden gem. I personally liked the rope climbing there. Other than the Sungai Long Hill Trail that leads you to the top with picturesque views of the city, there is also a secret trail to a fishing lake and waterfall that many don’t know about!

The hidden lake is just a few steps away from the entrance, while the 5.5km Sg Long Waterfall Trail is quite challenging, especially for beginners. After hiking, grab yourself some coconut water from the roadside stalls before heading back.

There are two swimming pools here surrounded by the lush forest. Other than swimming, you can also go for jungle walks along the paved routes, and or fire up the grill with a vibrant BBQ party.
