Son Ye-jin Offered a Role in a New North Korea-Related K-drama

Ready to see her opposite a new leading man?

We miss Son Ye-jin, don’t you? It’s been a while since her lineup of Netflix shows has been updated, and we haven’t seen her in any new trending K-drama since. But maybe things are about to change soon. According to Allkpop, Son Ye-jin is in talks to star in a new K-drama called Trees Die on their Feet. Her potential leading man is reportedly Kang Ha-neul. 

On 29 Sep 2021, Kang Ha-neul’s label Thcompany confirmed that he’s currently reviewing the script. On the other hand, Son Ye-jin’s agency MSTeam Entertainment, confirmed that she has already been offered the role. 

Trees Die on their Feet is another K-drama whose plot involves life after escaping North Korea. The story revolves around an elderly woman named Ja Geum-soon who loses her family while escaping North Korea. A theatre actor is then tasked to grant the elderly woman’s final wish.

Yoon Yuh Jung is set to play the elderly woman while Kang Ha-neul is in talks to play the theatre actor who will take on the role of the woman’s grandson. If Son Ye-jin accepts her part, she will reportedly play the woman’s granddaughter.
