Scoot Adds New Flights to Vietnam and Malaysia in 2025

More Scoot Flights Coming: Direct Routes to Vietnam and Malaysia Start This October

With Jetstar Asia winding down, SIA and Scoot are stepping in to keep your regional travel plans going strong.

With Jetstar Asia set to shut down on 31 July 2025, Singapore Airlines (SIA) and its budget arm Scoot have been steadily expanding their regional footprint to fill the gap.

The low-cost carrier’s closure affects 16 routes out of Changi Airport, including several popular short-haul destinations. Fortunately, SIA Group has responded quickly by launching new routes and increasing frequency on existing ones. And now, more flights have been confirmed.

New Scoot routes to Okinawa, Labuan Bajo, and Medan

Jetstar Asia previously operated exclusive flights to destinations like Okinawa in Japan and Labuan Bajo in Indonesia. These links were at risk of being cut off after July, but Scoot will take over both routes during the Northern Winter 2025 season, which runs from 26 October 2025 to 28 March 2026.

Subject to regulatory approval, Scoot will begin:

  • Four-times weekly flights to Okinawa

  • Twice-weekly flights to Labuan Bajo

  • Daily flights to Medan

This ensures that travellers heading to these leisure destinations will continue to have direct access from Singapore.

July 2025 update: Scoot adds new flights to Vietnam and Malaysia

Scoot has announced another wave of new routes to meet the growing demand for travel in the region. The airline will launch direct flights to Da Nang and Nha Trang in Vietnam, as well as Kota Bharu in Malaysia, between October and November 2025.

From August 2025:

  • Scoot will increase flights to Bangkok from 35 to 39 per week, then to 42 per week from 26 October

  • Penang flights will go from 21 to 28 per week

  • Clark flights will increase from 5 to 7 per week

From 26 October 2025:

Scoot will also add more services to:

  • Denpasar (Bali)

  • Jakarta

  • Phuket

  • Surabaya

Singapore Airlines is also increasing capacity on major routes:

  • Manila: from 28 to 35 weekly

  • Jakarta: from 63 to 70 weekly

  • Phuket: from 30 to 42 weekly

  • Colombo: from 7 to 10 weekly

To accommodate higher demand, Scoot will deploy Boeing 787 Dreamliners on some of its Manila flights, replacing the smaller Airbus planes.

Limited-time sale happening soon

Here’s something to sweeten the deal. Scoot will be running a limited-time sale from July 8 to 13, with promotional fares to selected destinations available on its website and mobile app. This sale runs alongside the official launch of its new routes to Vietnam and Malaysia.

To stay updated on the latest deals, travellers can follow Scoot on social media or subscribe to its newsletter for alerts.

What this means for travellers

Jetstar Asia’s exit will have an impact, but the SIA Group’s continued expansion means most regional routes remain well served. Travellers can expect more options, upgraded aircraft on select routes, and greater flexibility. These changes may also help keep airfares steady by meeting growing demand.

Looking ahead

Changi Airport Group has confirmed that 12 of the 16 routes previously served by Jetstar Asia are already covered by other airlines. For destinations still left unserved, such as Broome and Wuxi, the airport is working with carriers to restore connectivity. Scoot’s newly announced flights to Vietnam and Malaysia suggest that regional growth is only picking up speed.
