Okinawa’s New Nature Adventure Theme Park Opening July 2025

Okinawa’s New Nature Adventure Theme Park Set to Open This July

Get ready for dinosaurs, hot springs and a zipline, all in one nature themed park!

A new kind of theme park is coming to Okinawa. Junglia, a nature-themed adventure park, will open its doors on 25 July 2025. Located in the forests of northern Okinawa, it combines wild rides, prehistoric creatures, and peaceful retreats, all in one lush setting.

A fresh take on theme parks

Unlike Japan’s bustling urban parks, Junglia is built across 60 hectares of lush, subtropical forest. The park is designed to bring visitors closer to nature while offering a curated mix of attractions.

The ¥70 billion project is developed by entertainment company Katana Inc. It’s led by Tsuyoshi Morioka, who is known for revamping Universal Studios Japan. Junglia is his first original theme park concept, and aims to attract travellers looking for something different from the usual big-city attractions.

Among the key attractions is the Dinosaur Adventure Tour. Visitors hop into jeeps and explore a jungle filled with over 20 life-sized, moving dinosaurs. The ride features roars, movements, and interactive elements designed to mimic a real safari. There’s even a towering 19-metre brachiosaurus!

Other highlights include the Sky Eagle Zipline, a 280-metre thrill ride that sends visitors soaring high above the treetops.  This ride combines speed with panoramic views of the jungle below. Those preferring a slower pace can take to the skies in the Horizon Balloon instead, a helium balloon ride that gently rises 23 metres above the forest. Ascending on it reveals the sweeping vistas of Okinawa’s Yambaru region, known for its biodiversity and protected natural areas.

Junglia will open with 22 attractions. More features, including places to stay, are planned for future development.

Dining and relaxation in the forest

Junglia will feature 15 restaurants and cafés, offering everything from traditional Okinawan dishes to international ones. Among the highlights is Panorama Dining, which offers views of the forest canopy and a menu that features seasonal ingredients sourced from the region.

On the relaxation front, Spa Junglia offers a tranquil escape within the park grounds. Facilities include infinity pools overlooking the forest, natural hot springs, and unique cave baths.

Junglia officially opens on 25 July 2025. Take note that entry prices vary depending on where you’re coming from. It’s set at ¥6,930 (~S$62.50) for Japanese residents, while overseas tourists will pay ¥8,800 (~S$79.40). Discounts will be available for children, and day passes will include access to major attractions and rides.

Advance booking is strongly recommended, especially during holidays and weekends, as the park is expected to draw large crowds from both domestic and international audiences.

A big boost for Okinawa tourism

As Japan looks to diversify its tourism offerings beyond major cities like Tokyo and Osaka, Junglia arrives at the perfect time. With its focus on nature and adventure, the park is set to become a unique addition to Okinawa’s tourism landscape.

Whether you’re after a heart-racing zipline ride, a peaceful hot spring soak, or a close-up encounter with a dinosaur, Junglia offers a fresh experience and marks an ambitious new chapter in Japan’s theme park scene.
