Earlier this year, we wrote about the most powerful and weakest passports for the first quarter of 2022. Now, Henley & Partners released their updated quarterly passport index report. This ranks all passports in the world according to the number of destinations their holders can visit without a visa. 

Naturally, those countries dominating the top of the list are living every traveller’s dream — as they are provided with more travel freedom than other countries. So, without further ado, here are the most powerful passports in the world for the third quarter of 2022!

Turn out of new quarterly passport ranking for 2022

According to the new quarterly passport ranking for 2022 released by Henley & Partners, three Asian passports dominate the top of the list. Japan takes the number one spot, offering its passport holders hassle-free access to 193 destinations around the world. Meanwhile, Singapore has tied with South Korea at number two, whose citizens can travel to 192 destinations.

  3. Germany, Spain (190 destinations)
  4. Finland, Italy, Luxembourg (189 destinations)
  5. Austria, Denmark, Netherlands, Sweden (188 destinations)
  6. France, Ireland, Portugal, United Kingdom (187 destinations)
  7. Belgium, New Zealand, Norway, Switzerland, United States (186 destinations)
  8. Australia, Canada, Czech Republic, Greece, Malta (185 destinations)
  9. Hungary (183 destinations)
  10. Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia (182 destinations)

Sitting near the top of this quarterly passport ranking for 2022, just below the top three Asian countries, is an influx of European nations. Germany and Spain take third place with access to 190 destinations, while Finland, Italy, and Luxembourg share fourth place. Hopefully, as travel restrictions continue to ease, other lower-ranking passports will start to recover.
