‘Dug Days’ Is Here, Your Favourite Talking Dog’s Own Disney Series!

He's just met you and he loves you.

Our hearts were all turned to goo the first time we watched Pixar’s much-beloved Up animated movie. Not only was the story of Carl and Ellie enough to make adults cry, but the adorable Golden Retriever named Dug stole our hearts and made our stomachs hurt with laughter every time he was on screen. Our favourite talking dog basically made the lines “Hi there!” and “Squirrel!” iconic.

It took some time, but now Dug is finally getting the spotlight that he deserves. Pixar recently released the trailer for Dug’s very own animated shorts. Yup, Dug has his own series now called Dug Days!

Dug Days, a spin-off from Up, is written and directed by Bob Peterson, who is also the voice of Dug. The series follows the adventures of Dug, who now has to navigate through the “dangers” of urban life, a far cry from the dangers of the South American jungles. In this series of shorts, Dug will have to face scary fireworks, puppies, and of course his greatest arch nemeses — squirrels!

According to Peterson, “Dug is pure of heart — he’s a good soul. I think people enjoy that part of Dug. Plus, people love their dogs. We’ve gone to great lengths to include truth in dog behavior, so they see their own dogs in Dug.” Indeed, whether or not you own a Golden Retriever, it’s still very easy to see traits of your dogs in good ol’ Dug, from being a bundle of energy to being automatically friendly with people they just met.

Dug Days will star the old crew, namely, Dug, Carl, and Russel. All episodes will stream on Disney+ on 1 Sept 2021.
