“Travel often leaves an environmental footprint,” says Rikke Holm Petersen, communications chief for Copenhagen’s tourist board. “ is our way of encouraging visitors to embrace sustainable practices while exploring our beautiful city.”
Here’s how it works: tourists who choose eco-friendly options like cycling, using public transportation, or participating in clean-up efforts can earn rewards. The program is trust-based, with participating attractions verifying green actions through simple means like showing a train ticket or bike.
The rewards themselves are enticing: free meals, drinks, and activity vouchers at over two dozen participating businesses and institutions. Imagine enjoying a complimentary kayak tour on the canals or indulging in a delicious vegetarian lunch made with local ingredients – all for making sustainable choices!
