Vloggers Make World’s Worst Airbnb & People Want to Book It!

It was only for fun but Airbnb users dropped serious inquiries, much to the YouTubers’ surprise.

Here at TripZilla, we pride ourselves in recommending the BEST Airbnbs you’ll find; castles for rent, unreal treehouse accommodations, and dreamy island getaways in Asia. But be honest. Will you willingly book the world’s worst Airbnb EVER? We know a few people who would!

Reservation inquiries poured in much to the surprise of relatively new UK-based YouTube vloggers, Passion Squad, who “opened” the absolute worst Airbnb in the world. The Airbnb listing was actually a practical joke and social experiment of sorts. It was merely amusing content for the vlog! Yet the response was serious business.

Labelled “Earth house hosted by Jamie” (a member of the Passion Squad), the listing boasted of an outdoor location; a mattress in the middle of an open clearing, to be exact — with nothing but a tree to keep guests sheltered from unforgiving weather.

The listing read: “This is inspired by one of the most exquisite and unique hotels in Europe. It has got easy access to wildlife, fresh air, and some peace. During your stay, you will find everything very nearby, including train station, bus station, and the local town”.

While the content creators weren’t sure of what to make of the inquiries, some seemed to join the banter. An Airbnb user cheekily commented, “Looks good, very safe. I would love to book for December, but what if it rains? Can’t get my gorgeous hair wet.

What inspired the world’s worst Airbnb?

Passion Squad’s worst Airbnb in the world was actually inspired by the Null Stern Hotel in Switzerland. The accommodation observes a tasteful, minimalist aesthetic made maximalist by its unique backdrop: the Swiss Alps.

In short, the Null Stern Hotel has no room and no roof — just a few expensive-looking pieces of furniture that make the space look quite homey. You’ll get a white headboard, a cushy bed, a pair of bedside tables with matching (working) lamps. Behind your bed is a jaw-dropping snowcapped mountain range that makes you feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere. Thus, Null Stern Hotel’s tagline is apt, “The only star is you”.

The world’s worst Airbnb, however, is just a mattress placed under a tree in the middle of a clearing with what seems to be a parking lot nearby. Book it and you get a bedside drawer and a night lamp that doesn’t work because, well, there’s no electricity in the great outdoors. To be clear, it is no longer an official Airbnb listing for rent.

Jaime of Passion Squad dared to make their Airbnb listing a real, functioning one, though, if their episode gets 1,000 likes. Part two will document them hosting the people who seriously inquired, should that happen. As of writing date, Passion Squad’s world’s worst Airbnb vlog has garnered 342 likes and over 22,000 views. Well then, 658 likes to go. Good luck, lads!
