For most of us, an airport is a place of transit. It's a series of terminals, duty-free shops, and boarding gates. But some airports are so vast they practically function as independent cities, spanning hundreds of square kilometres and housing everything from royal terminals to nature reserves.

If you’ve ever felt like your walk to the gate was a marathon, you might have been at one of these land-area titans. Here are the world's largest airports, where the scale of infrastructure is just as breathtaking as the destinations they serve.

What about Singapore's Changi Airport?

While these 10 giants dominate in terms of sheer land area, Singaporean travelers might notice a familiar name missing from the list. Our very own Changi Airport currently occupies a site of about 25 sq km, efficiently packed with the world-class amenities that just earned it the title of World’s Best Airport 2026 by Skytrax for the 14th time!

However, the scale is about to change. With the massive Changi East development now underway, including the groundbreaking of Terminal 5, Singapore is adding another 1,080 hectares of land—an area almost as large as the current airport itself. While we may never aim to beat the 776 sq km of King Fahd International, the "Little Red Dot" is proving that you don't need the most land to be the best in the sky.
