Best Short Beach Holidays From Singapore in June and July To Avoid Monsoon Rains
Don't rain on my June/July parade.
Has this ever happened to you? I had a rude shock while planning for a beach holiday in July after my trusty LLM pointed out how the monsoon eliminated most well-known beach destinations within 4 hours of Singapore.
June and July are tricky months for beach holidays in Southeast Asia. Much of the region is drenched by the southwest monsoon, leaving many popular destinations grey, wet, and wave-battered. Luckily for us, there a still a few beaches that are not so badly affected by the monsoon.
These eight destinations sit in climate zones where June and July are actually peak beach season, and the furthest only sits two hours away from Singapore. Read on for monsoon-proof beach holiday picks for the mid-year recharge you deserve.

Why These Destinations Are Untouched By the Monsoon
Most of Southeast Asia's west-facing coasts bear the full brunt of the monsoon season from May to October, ruling out Thailand, Langkawi, and South Vietnam as middle-of-the-year beach destinations.
The destinations below either face the South China Sea, sit east of Bali, or lie close enough to the equator to stay largely sheltered.
1. Bintan, Indonesia

The most convenient pick on this list, Bintan is just a 55-minute ferry journey from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal. June and July fall squarely in its dry season, with sunny skies and cool breezes. Banyan Tree Bintan and Club Med on the north coast, make great options for a luxurious three- to four-night resort escape.
2. Desaru Coast, Malaysia

Under two hours from Singapore by car or ferry, Desaru Coast is in its prime in June to August. Calm seas, long sandy beaches, and resort towns make it one of the most accessible beach breaks available. It is particularly well-suited for families or anyone who wants a quick weekend recharge without the airport hassle.
3. Tioman Island, Malaysia

Tioman is one of Southeast Asia's most well-known dive islands, but one thing you might not know is that June is one of the best months to visit as rainfall is lower, which means clearer seas are clear. Reaching it only requires a four-hour drive to Mersing, followed by a short ferry. Salang and Juara bays offer untouched coral and a genuine off-the-beaten-path feel.
4. Nha Trang, Vietnam

Nha Trang faces the South China Sea, which shields it from the southwest monsoon and keeps it dry and sunny through August. Temperatures sit between 28°C and 32°C, with calm seas ideal for island-hopping and diving at Hon Mun Marine Reserve. Scoot and VietJet Air both fly direct from Changi to Cam Ranh Airport in about two hours and 20 minutes.
5. Da Nang, Vietnam

Like Nha Trang, Da Nang's east-facing coast means June and July are hot, dry, and ideal for the beach. My Khe Beach stretches for nearly 30 kilometres, and the city also serves as a base for day trips to Hội An and the Marble Mountains. Direct flights from Singapore take about two hours, making it an easy five-night itinerary.
6. Lombok, Indonesia

Lombok enters its dry season in May and stays sunny through October, with June and July among its most reliably clear months. The south coast's Kuta Lombok offers quiet horseshoe bays for swimming and surfing, while the Gili Islands are car-free, crowd-light, and excellent for snorkelling. Scoot, Lion Air and Batik Air have direct flights from Singapore in two hours each.
7. Koh Lipe, Thailand

Koh Lipe's position near the Thai-Malaysian border means the monsoon arrives later and lighter than elsewhere on the Andaman coast. June and July remain mostly swimmable, particularly on Sunrise and Pattaya beaches. The island is car-free and refreshingly unhurried. Fly to Langkawi, then take a ferry across, bringing travel time to a total of two and a half hours.
8. Bali, Indonesia

June and July are widely regarded as Bali's best months for a good reason. Clear skies, calm seas, and a full range of accommodation from budget guesthouses to luxury cliff-top villas make it one of the most versatile short breaks from Singapore. Scoot, Singapore Airlines, and AirAsia all fly direct from Changi to Ngurah Rai International Airport in around two hours and 30 minutes.

Whether you are after a 55-minute ferry to Bintan or a two-hour flight to Nha Trang, reliable sunshine and calm seas are well within reach even at the height of the monsoon season.
TripZilla Tip: All eight destinations tend to surge in bookings during the June school holidays, so to lock in the best rates by booking flights and accommodation at least six to eight weeks ahead.
