What is Hyrox?

Think of Hyrox as the ultimate all-round fitness test, blending endurance running with functional strength exercises. This indoor competition follows the same format globally. Participants alternate between one-kilometre runs and eight workout stations. These stations are designed to test your power, strength, and stamina, and include the SkiErg, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, rowing, farmers carry, sandbag lunges, and wall balls.

The beauty of Hyrox lies in its accessibility. Whether you are a seasoned athlete or simply gym-curious, there are categories for everyone, including individual races, doubles (men’s, women’s, and mixed), and four-person relays.

Preparing for the challenge

Most participants spend between eight to 12 weeks preparing for Hyrox. Several gyms across Singapore now offer Hyrox-specific training programmes, including official race partners Body Fit Training (BFT), F45, and UFIT. If you are contemplating signing up, start building your running endurance whilst incorporating functional strength training. You will need both cardiovascular fitness and muscular endurance to tackle all eight stations after running eight kilometres, so consistency is key.

Once you have conquered Hyrox, the Kallang area offers plenty of options to refuel and celebrate. Directly connected to the stadium, Kallang Wave Mall houses a food court with local favourites and a plentiful selection of restaurants for your post-race feast. One of Singapore’s most celebrated hawker centres, its legendary stalls serve satay, Hokkien mee, rojak, and soya bean curd at wallet-friendly prices.

Stroll along the scenic waterfront of Kallang Riverside Park for your recovery stroll. The path offers fantastic views of the city skyline and the tranquil Kallang Basin, a pocket of calm after the high-energy race environment. For something more refreshing, head to the Water Sports Centre within the Sports Hub and rent a kayak or canoe. A gentle paddle on the Kallang Basin is excellent active recovery, and you will be rewarded with unparalleled views of the National Stadium and skyline from the water.

Whether you are chasing a personal best or simply want to experience the latest fitness craze in an iconic setting, Hyrox Singapore 2026 is shaping up to be an unforgettable event. Just remember to start your training well in advance! Your future self will thank you.
