Nature has always been the great tranquiliser to our mental stress and physical exhaustion but due to urbanisation, it becomes a struggle to enjoy what nature has to offer. Amazingly, there’s one great spot in Japan that allows urbanites to de-stress from the city life.

Just 30 minutes away from the city centre of Kyoto, the Sagano Bamboo Forest is an astonishing contrast to the bustling urban setting around it. The fresh air, pleasing sounds and stunning views will allow you to completely immerse in nature. As you walk through the wooden paths leading to the thick canopy of bamboos, you’ll realise how blessed you are with such incredible gift of nature.

Sagano Bamboo Forest is a nationally-designated Historic Site and Place of Scenic Beauty and has been voted by Japan’s Ministry of the Environment as one of the “100 Soundscapes of Japan,” a project that encourages people to get out and appreciate the meditative sounds of nature.
