If luxury glamping under the stars in the heart of a cultural hotspot is your thing, here’s some good news. The Kampong Gelam glamping experience is back this year, allowing you to cosy up in a tent at one of Singapore’s most charming districts. Titled Kampong G(e)lamping @ MHC, the unique, truly Singaporean experience would allow you to wake up in the lovely grounds of the Malay Heritage Centre after a day or two of exploring the colourful neighbourhood. Fun fact: the Malay Heritage Centre also used to be a Malay palace for generations of Sultans back in the 19th century!

To start your Kampong Gelam glamping experience, simply purchase the G(e)lamping package. This gives you access to your own personal tent, which is roomy enough for 4 people (applicable to both adults and children 2 years and above). Each tent comes fully equipped with everything you need for a refreshing and wholesome stay. This includes 2 queen-sized beds, a 70 inch projector screen with unlimited access to your favourite movies and shows, 2 large bean bags for lounging around, an ice box for your drinks and free Wi-Fi. 

The Kampong Gelam glamping experience is also the best way to up your Instagram game, with tent interiors lined with rugs and carpets, along with decorative props for your Instagram shots.

Note: The Malay Heritage Centre is awarded SG Clean certification. Safety precautions like the daily sanitisation and disinfection of bedding, tents, and props are also conducted for a worry-free glampcation. Temperature taking and wearing of masks will also apply.

Rediscover Kampong Gelam

As part of your 2D1N stay, there will be activities lined up to help you fully soak up the historical area. Start your first day with a guided walking tour of Kampong Gelam and its rich iconic landmarks like the Sultan Mosque. Culture vultures will also delight in the specially curated tour of the Malay Heritage Centre’s signature galleries, where you can see their special exhibitions like the Urang Banjar exhibition, which showcase the smallest group of the Malay community here. For foodies and fitness buffs, there’ll be an outdoor cooking class and a beginner’s yoga session you can look forward to!

There’s no better way to kickstart your school holiday plans with a one-in-a-lifetime glamping experience in Kampong Gelam. Save the date: ticket sales start from 11 February, 12pm. There are a total of 10 slots, and only 2 per day from 16 to 20 March 2021. It costs $450 and is on a first-come-first-serve basis. Check-in is at 2pm and check-out is at 10am.
